Looking for avenues for growth KFC decided to innovate in terms of product by introducing Crispy Shaorma, a reaction to the category’s growing trend. But that placed the (American) brand in a new, unfamiliar, mostly Eastern competitive environment. Noticing shawarma is popular, craved but taken for granted and discredited, KFC decided to earn its way (and credibility) in the shawarma world. Crispy Shaorma quickly became the most popular product in the KFC lineup, and drove many indicators up.
