Effie 2020 will start the Call for Entries at the end of August and the agencies can submit their works until October. This edition will also have 3 deadlines for entry submissions and both judging rounds and the Awarding Gala will take place in November.
The competition was initially planned for June, however, as almost every other event in this period, Effie Award Romania was postponed, due to the current situation we are facing. On the bright side, this decision gave the opportunity to gain more time for planning a better edition. Therefore the Effie 2020 Organizing Committee had more time to organize a digitalized competition with an online submission for entries, a digital judging process and explore ways to host an online event for the Awarding Gala.
The platform where the agencies will be able to submit their entry forms is the international Effie Worldwide platform.

“We are in a period of changes where we can redefine the new-normal or we can let it redefine us.
Firstly, the decision to continue this competition in 2020 sends the message that Advertising is a subject that matters: it mattered before the pandemic, it matters during and will matter after, as a fundamental growing engine. The great campaigns will be awarded and will continue to attract new investment, maintaining an economic stability.
Secondly, it is time for Effie to accelerate its evolution. At the beginning of the year, we’ve invited the past 3 years Effie winners to be part of Effie Winners Forum, an extra advisory board. And this was an essential step taken in order to gain a superior level of credibility and balance. We continue to discuss the digital transformation now. The cases will be submitted online, the judging process will be digital, the Awarding Gala will also be online
Thirdly, this digital transformation will bring a substantial discount on the entry fees, especially for the agencies which are members of IAA and UAPR.”
Having a digital competition brings an improvement in filling the entry form and in the way the creative materials will be presented. All the changes will be published on the competition’s website.
The eligibility period of the projects will remain the same: 1st of January – 31st of December 2019.
And the festival offers, as usually, training sessions to all participants, members of jury and moderators.
